Consulting to pay startup bills. What’s the best way to fund?

I am a freelancer operating through my own limited company, based in the UK. I consult and design apps/websites for clients. I plan to launch a venture around my own app that I have designed.

The new venture would trade under a different name to my consulting work company. I’m planning to bootstrap the new venture for now. But there’s a possibility that if it went well, I would raise investment for it down the line.

What is the best way to structure my consulting company and the new venture? Would it make any sense to link two companies? I’ve heard about company to company loans, but not sure if that is any better than funding from my own pocket if the loaned money is still subject to corporation tax…

Any experience or suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.
